Digital Video Walls

Video Walls

Digital Video Walls

Video walls are a collage of individual displays that collectively show an image or series of images. Video walls can be configured in very large or unusual formations to offer a flexible and impressive bank of digital images.

What is a Video Wall?

Video walls are an excellent way to display multiple images across multiple displays or one large picture across multiple displays. The displays are tiled together contiguously or overlapped in order to form one large screen

Typical display technologies include:

  • LCD panels
  • LED arrays
  • DLP tiles
  • Rear projection screens

Systems We Can Offer

Simple video walls can be driven from single HDMI or displayPort connection into the 1st screen, and then daisy-chained into subsequent units, with each  screen keeping it's "own" segment of the overall image.

Stepping up from this are multi-monitor graphics cards for PCs, and more complex arrangements may require specialised video processors, specifically designed to manage and drive large video walls. Green Monkey can offer advice on all different types of solutions.

The special NEC MultiSync® monitors that we provide for multi-monitor set-ups are specifically designed for use in video walls and have ultra-narrow bezels in order to minimize mullion - the gap between active display areas.

They are built with the long-term serviceability, longevity and reliability that customers expect from a public display. These screens contain the hardware necessary to stack multiple screens together, along with connections to daisy chain power, video, and command signals between screens. A command signal may, for example, power all screens in the video wall on or off, or calibrate the brightness of a single screen after bulb replacement.

Why a Video Wall?

You may be thinking, why not just use a single large screen? The reasons for using a video wall instead can include:

  • Impressive looking modern sleek designs
  • Exceptional sharp image quality (up to 4K)
  • Flexibility to mount in any location
  • Ability to customise tile layouts
  • Create quirky layouts in any formation you want
  • Show multiple images simultaneously

Suitable Applications for Video Walls

You can use video walls anywhere where you want to display digital images. They are ideal for a wide array of applications such as retail signage including 24/7, transport applications, conference rooms, lobby/ reception installations and integration in totems and furniture.

Video walls are often found in large public venues where patrons are expected to observe the display at long distances. However video walls can also benefit smaller venues when patrons may view the screens both up close and at a distance, respectively necessitating both high pixel density and large size.
